Crane Wall
This large drystone wall project was on the back side of a North Asheville home on a steep slope. We had to hire a crane to move our building stone into the work zone. Bodie and Jerry at Rogers and Son took care of that for us.
These walls feature small sets of steps that project forward from the face of the wall, called stiles. This is an old English way to get access to your pastures, instead of installing gates. People can climb them but livestock generally cannot. We use them once in a while to give people easier access to maintain their gardens.
