Hammerhead Stoneworks and blacksmith Lynda Metcalfe collaborated on the design and construction of this stone entry sign for the Ironwoods neighborhood in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Scott Stone in Mebane, North Carolina supplied the material and their delivery driver was a huge help is setting the big boulder set at the head of the sign. The stone wall is anchored at both ends by large boulders. A structural stone wall resting on a sturdy reinforced footer connects the boulders. Lynda created the metal work in her Brasstown studio and brought it to Chapel Hill for installation.
Many thanks to Lynda and Matthew Feldt for the photographs on this page.
